Mission Statement
(i) Perform collider experiments at the highest energies
and luminosities: (a) full exploitation of the physics potential of the
CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (search for
Higgs boson(s), supersymmetric particles and/or extra space-time dimensions,
precision measurements of vector boson production); (b) possible participation
in a future experiment at the International Linear Collider.
(ii) Perform Detector Research and Development: Detector
control system for crystal calorimeter, development of novel particle
detectors based
on the deposition of hydrogenated amorphous silicon on ASICs, application of detector know-how to other fields (eg. PET scanning).
(iii) Full dedication to the teaching of Physics to
ETH students and to the promotion of public awareness of fundamental
research.
